Day 3 Dreaming of Spring

One of my favorite things about winter in the Northeast is mulling over seed catalogs. I love planning my garden for the spring. I try to support small nearby seed companies when possible like Pinetree Garden Seeds or Southern Exposure Seed Exchange. High Mowing Organic Seeds is a NE company that offers a CSS (Community Seed Share) program. This allows a customer to purchase a seed share to be redeemed the next season at a reduced rate. It is a great way to keep your garden under budget. For those dirt lovers who live in the Central U.S., I recommend Annie's Heirloom Seeds or the Seed Saver's Exchange. Irish Eyes Garden Seeds is great in the West. For a larger selection, the only large garden supply company I recommend is Johnny's Selected Seeds in Maine. I avoid all GMO and treated seeds. (More on this in a future post.)
