Day 12 Five Organizations that Need Your Support

  1. Sustainable Harvest International (SHI) does work in Central America. I recommend taking one of their Small World Tours. It is a great experience for the whole family.
  2. Joe Banjo Burke Memorial Fund supports traditional Irish arts and Parkinson's research. You should check out their Annual Irish Festival in East Durham, NY.
  3. Column of Hope has a great fundraiser, the annual gala. It is held in Buffalo, NY during October.
  4. Heifer International in Little Rock, Arkansas helps the poor become self supporting. I have been supporting them for more than 25 years.
  5. Habitat for Humanity works across the US and around the world to bring safe decent housing.
There are many ways you can help organizations (not just the ones I have listed.) The easiest way is a financial contribution. With today's economy, many organizations are struggling. There are sites like http://www.care2.com/click-to-donate/ that raise money through clicks. This costs you nothing but your time. Many organizations have wishlists for in-kind donations. This is usually for specific things like office supplies. Most organizations post these lists on their websites. Finally there is volunteering your time at the organization's office, events, fundraising, or any other venue needed. Please remember that there are many less fortunate that need your help.
