Saving Money in the Garden

I needed a place to start some seeds this year. We got a cat that was digging in all of my houseplants so using the window sills were out of the question. I did not have the money to go buy a greenhouse. I had to use things I already had around the house. Here is a picture.

I scrounged two plastic totes and placed an old window over it. I also tried a metal basket with a window over it too. When the plants needed a vent, I just scooted the window. The three worked well, but only held a small amount of seedlings. Not bad for free!
