The Notebook Part III

For the actual household binder, I reused an old 1" three ring binder I already owned.

In the first section, I put my "good morning routine" followed by my other cleaning schedules. I use these the most often so that is why I chose to make them first. My packing lists for vacations, camping, etc are in next.

For section two, I knew I needed to develop a system to help prevent wasting food. I have been working towards only grocery shopping once per month except for milk, eggs, and bread. These items could be purchased locally by walking or riding my bike.

I downloaded a form in which to record every item stored in my freezer, how much of each, and when the products were used. I made an inventory spreadsheet of my other food and nonfood dry storage. I realized how much easier this would be for menu planning as well as eliminating unnecessary purchases. After these two lists, I placed my master menu and master shopping list.

I debated for a while where I would put my Christmas/holiday gift list, and then I decided this would be the most handy.  I also added my wishlist, my books to read list, and my movies to watch list. I added a page of things like my ink cartridge model and air filter model for the car.

The third section is my financial information. This has my monthly budget, any large expenses or debt payoff charts, and special occasion budgets. My master annual budget is a excel spreadsheet I keep on my laptop.

The fourth and final section has a hodge podge of things. This is where the emergency numbers list, emergency evac plans, my child's friends/addresses/phone numbers list, my list of 100 things to do before I die, and a cross reference index of all my files and where they are located.

My binder is constantly changing as I try new ideas others are doing. By the way, my recipes, craft ideas, and dream house ideas I put in separate 3 ring binders. (I also do pinterest, but I really enjoy cutting pictures from magazines too.)
