5 Food Additives I Avoid

  1. Food with MSG - This is especially helpful if you have headaches from unknown causes. It is often found in Asian foods. You must be aware that products containing hydrogenated vegetable protein (that sometimes has MSG in it) does not have to list MSG as an ingredient.
  2. Food or drink with high fructose corn syrup - You must read labels carefully because lots of juice has this added. A pet peeve of mine is when companies add chemically made vitamin C to their products and then label it 100% juice. For some reason, certain additives are allowed.
  3. Food and drink with red f.d. & c. dye #40 - This contributes to hyperactivity in some children.
  4. Drinks with caffeine - I feel much better when this stimulate is avoided. On occasion, I do sometimes have caffeinated tea, but I feel that the benefits in this case outweigh the negatives. (I know that there are some people who would argue the same about coffee, but I have seen to many addictions to be able to agree.)
  5. Nitrites in bacon - It is believed that these can contribute to cancer, pulmonary disease, and brain tumors in children.
Please don't take my word on these additives. You should do your own research. Do you feel better after removing an additive from your diet? What ones have you had issues? You must think for yourself!
